History: In 1971 he was sorted into Slytherin at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was rivals with James Potter and his friends throughout the school years. He graduated from school in 1978, and having been affiliated with Death Eaters, became a Death Eater himself. On October 31st 1981, Severus Snape paced nervously in his home, wondering if he should go to Dumbledore yet again. The Dark Lord had left some time ago to finish off the spawn of James and Lily Potter, he had found out from Pettigrew. Unable to bear the wait any longer, Severus apparated to Godric's Hollow. He was horrified when he entered the home and stepped up the stairs to find Lily Potter dead in the infant's room. He lost all composure and broke down, cusing the Dark Lord's name. They had struck a deal; Lord Voldemort was supposed to spare her. He'd then noticed the babe in the crib, crying quite loudly. Severus had been holding Lily, and gently set her down to inspect the child. A lightning bolt scar was on his forehead, but other than that, nothing else was wrong with the Potter child. Severus knew that the order was probably already on their way, and he had no choice but to disapparate, for he could not be found at the scene of the crime.

The wizard had been meaning to ask the Dark Lord what had happened, as the child was still alive but his Lily dead. A week past, and there was no sign of the Dark Lord. The Daily Prophet spread news of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named and the Boy-Who-Lived. It seemd that the Dark Lord had fallen that night, and the young Potter was responsible. Later in 1981, Snape applied for the position as Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. He was denied, and he finally went for Potions and got the job. He spent 14 years as a Potions Master, and spy for Dumbledore. He was also Head of Slytherin House, by which he favored Slytherins and not Gryffindors...
